CyberCardia Associate Director Flavio Fenton visits Stony Brook on Oct. 27-28, 2016 and gives two amazing talks, one on "Emergent Behavior in the Heart" and the other on "High-performance computing in heart simulations with direct clinical applications."

Title: High-performance computing in heart simulations with direct clinical applications.

Abstract:

Heart modeling is a challenging problem because of the large range in spatiotemporal scales needed for accurate simulations. In this talk, we will discuss how we use a combined experimental, numerical and theoretical approach to better understand the dynamics of cardiac arrhythmias. We will show how heart dynamics is modeled and how large scale GPU simulations are used to better understand cardiac arrhythmias and to develop novel methods to control and terminate arrhythmias.
